CENTER OF HOPE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF CEO CINDY HOWARD AFTER 37 YEARS OF SERVICE

Celebration of Cindy’s Legacy to Be Held at 70th Anniversary Gala in April 2026

Southbridge, MA – June 16, 2025 – The Center of Hope Foundation, Inc. respectfully announces the upcoming retirement of its President and CEO, Cindy Howard, effective June 30, 2025. After 37 years of transformative leadership and passionate service, Cindy will conclude her career having left a lasting impact on the lives of thousands across Central Massachusetts and Northeastern Connecticut.

Cindy began working at the Center of Hope in a part-time role doing bookkeeping and payroll while raising her children. Over the decades, she helped transform the organization from a small, workshop-based agency to a dynamic nonprofit offering a wide array of supports and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Cindy’s work led to the creation of numerous vital programs, including Adult Day Health, Day Habilitation, In-Home Support, Group Homes, Shared Living, and a HUD 811 housing project.

As CEO for the past five years, Cindy has been at the forefront of legislative advocacy and community engagement. Her dedication to the mission of the Center of Hope extended beyond operations—she served on statewide advocacy boards, authored successful grants, and launched meaningful fundraising efforts, including the ongoing Hope Grows Here Capital Campaign, which has raised 83% of its $2.6 million goal to date.

“Cindy’s leadership, vision, and heart have shaped this agency into what it is today,” said Erika Burrows, newly appointed CEO to the Center of Hope Foundation, Inc. “Her influence will be felt for generations, and her legacy will continue to inspire the work we do every day.”

In recognition of her incredible contributions, the Center of Hope Foundation will honor Cindy Howard at its 70th Anniversary Gala, scheduled for April 23, 2026. The event will celebrate both her legacy and the agency’s seven decades of service and impact on the community.

Reflecting on her time with the agency, Cindy shared,

“It has been a blessing and privilege to ‘grow up’ with this organization, and it will continue to hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life. Thank you all for the special roles you have played during my tenure and for your many kindnesses.”

The Center of Hope Foundation expresses its deepest gratitude to Cindy Howard for her decades of compassionate leadership and unwavering dedication to individuals with disabilities and their families.
