Hope Grows

The Center of Hope is always looking for new business ventures that offering training and job opportunities for the program members we serve. This led to opening the Hope Grows Greenhouse in 2019, which was generously funded through the MAPFRE Foundation and the George W. Wells Foundation.

The individuals who work in our employment supports department work with the plants from sprouting to harvesting.  The job doesn’t end there. Individuals are then able to sell the plants and vegetables to the staff at the Center and out in the community.

This greenhouse creates more than just a job opportunity to the individuals we serve.  Kitchen workshops help program members learn about seasonal vegetables, how to properly cook vegetables and increase awareness for healthy eating.

Healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner options are prepared in the kitchen and a food cart is used to sell these items, increasing money management skills, throughout the Center of Hope.

The Hope Grows Greenhouse continues to grow and flourish, growing more and more each year. The MAPFRE Foundation continues to fund this program through the Hope Grow’s Grant allowing us to purchase new equipment, supplies and adding additional staff to ensure that all program members are learning healthy eating habits and have access to the healthy vegetables to do so.
