Center of Hope Receives Donation in Honor of Scott MacKay

The Center of Hope Foundation would like to thank Nils Ljungberg, Arline Mackay, Brandon MacKay and Brooks MacKay for their wonderful generosity. The Scott MacKay 3rd Annual Golf Tournament was held at Holden Hills Country Club this year and over the past three years the MacKay family has donated over $16,000 to the Center. This donation will allow the Center to continue with the mission in helping individuals with disabilities.

Scott MacKay was the lead drummer for the Help Wanted Band, now known as the Mychael David Project. This band has been a part of the Center’s Country for a Cause Fundraiser for over 20 years, helping to raise funds for Special Olympics.  This fundraiser began when program member, David S, began a friendship with Susan Jayne from the Help Wanted Band. This friendship lead Susan to want to help and the result was her creating Country for a Cause.

The Country for a Cause Fundraiser started as a concert in a small venue and has grown ever since.  With its’ growing popularity and following, the event is now held at larger but local facilities.

This fun filled night an entertaining musical performance and a lot of dancing.  Scott’s family said that this fundraiser was his favorite event of the year and that he looked forward to it.

Scott was well known and loved by all. Scott MacKay will always be remembered at the Center of Hope and the agency is grateful to have had the opportunity to have met and enjoyed Scott’s company. Thank you, MacKay family, for your continued support.
