Hope Grows Greenhouse and Garden Center has begun growing for the 2021 season. The Center of Hope’s Vocational Department began growing a variety of plants, flowers and vegetables in the main facility. With warmer weather approaching, the crew moved these to our new green house.
The greenhouse was generously funded through the MAPFRE Foundation and the George W. Wells Foundation. The individuals who work in our employment supports department will work with the plants from planting to harvesting. The job doesn’t end there. The individuals will then be able to sell the plants and vegetables to the local community. This greenhouse creates more than just a job opportunity to the individuals we serve. The crew will learn about seasonal vegetables, how to properly cook vegetables and increase awareness for healthy eating.
